Cedele Bakery Kitchen (Parkway Parade): The Sweet Side of a Shopping Trip

I have a special talent for spending longer than necessary in shopping malls. Sometimes it’s because I’m browsing. Other times, I simply cannot find the shop I’m looking for. This time, it was Cedele Bakery Kitchen at Parkway Parade.

Finding the cafe took a little longer than expected, I tried to load Google Maps correctly, I tried to drag the map, zoom in and navigate the map, but the little blue dot seemed convinced I was somewhere else.

I eventually found my way to Basement 1, where a display of cakes made the whole detour feel considerably less annoying.

And since I was already there, leaving without cake seemed like a terrible decision.

Cedele Bakery Kitchen at Parkway Parade

Cedele has been around since 1997, and I’ve passed its outlets countless times while heading somewhere else. The Parkway Parade outlet is located on Basement 1, offering cakes, artisan breads, sandwiches and drinks. It’s a bakery cafe rather than a full-service restaurant, so orders are placed at the counter, with seating available for those who prefer to eat there.

I like having somewhere to grab a bite without leaving the mall, especially when I’ve already spent too much time shopping. Parkway Parade has plenty of dining options, and Cedele happened to be my choice that afternoon. If you’re someone who enjoys exploring food spots inside shopping centres, the eateries at Fortune Centre are another option to keep in mind.

What's on the Menu at Cedele Bakery Kitchen?

A split composition featuring a café table setup on the left with a toasted sandwich, open-faced avocado toast, a bowl of soup, a hot latte, and a bubble tea drink, next to a close-up on the right of a tall slice of two-layer carrot cake frosted with cream cheese and topped with walnuts, served on a square white plate.

The Savoury Side: Signature Rosemary Chicken Sandwich

I went with the Signature Rosemary Chicken Sandwich for lunch, mainly because the combination of chicken and cranberry sauce sounded interesting. The rosemary gave the chicken a nice herby flavour, while the cranberry added a little sweetness that I wasn’t expecting to enjoy as much as I did. I liked how the flavours worked together without the mayonnaise becoming too overpowering.

The bread was just as important as the filling, and I appreciated having something with a bit of texture rather than an overly soft sandwich. At around S$13.30 on the delivery menu, it’s not exactly a cheap lunch, but I wouldn’t mind ordering it again when I’m craving something savoury.

Carrot Walnut Cake: A Classic for a Reason

I started with the Carrot Walnut Cake, one of Cedele’s longest-running creations since the brand opened its first store. I’ve always liked carrot cake, but I’m particular about the texture. Too dry, and I lose interest halfway through. Too much frosting, and I end up scraping some of it off.

The combination of warm spices and walnuts is what makes this cake appealing to me. I like a denser carrot cake, especially when the walnuts add a little crunch against the softer sponge. A black coffee makes a good pairing too, particularly if you prefer something less sweet alongside your dessert.

Real Dark Chocolate Cake: For the Chocolate Cravings

I also went for the Real Dark Chocolate Cake because, apparently, one slice wasn’t going to satisfy me. Made with Belgian dark chocolate, green apples (yes, you read that correctly) and chocolate cream cheese, it’s noticeably richer than the carrot cake. The dense, moist texture gives it an almost fudgy quality, while the cream cheese adds a slight tang that keeps the chocolate flavour from becoming too sweet.

What About the Service at This Cedele Bakery Cafe?

The warm and modern dining area of Cedele Bakery Kitchen, featuring light wood flooring, white tables with wooden chairs, green accent walls adorned with artificial foliage, and informative wall graphic displays.

Ordering at the counter was easy enough, and I liked being able to look at the cakes before making a decision. That’s one advantage of visiting a bakery rather than choosing dessert from a printed menu. You can see the portion you’re getting and decide whether you’re in the mood for chocolate, fruit or something else entirely.

I didn’t order anything that required much preparation, so I can’t say how long the sandwiches would take. If you’re visiting during lunch and have somewhere to be afterwards, it might be sensible to check the waiting time before ordering.

Personally, any kind of sweets are usually my preferred choices during a shopping trip, partly because I gain a lot of energy after spending too long choosing things in shops.

Available at Parkway Parade

If you’re looking for a cafe near Marine Parade MRT, Cedele is conveniently located on Basement 1 of Parkway Parade. I initially had some trouble navigating the mall, and putting fingers on the map wasn’t much help. I kept trying to move left and move right on the map before realising I was better off following the mall signs. At least finding my way back was easier!

Getting Your Cedele Cake Home

If you’re planning a birthday or celebration, you can order a cake online and collect it at Parkway Parade. And yes, self collection is available at participating Cedele outlets, which I find convenient when I’m already heading to the mall. Just remember that not every cake is available at Cedele outlets for walk-in purchases, so ordering ahead is a good idea.

Unlike some restaurants across Singapore that only offer takeaway, Cedele also provides islandwide delivery, with free delivery for qualifying orders above S$120. Selected cakes are eligible for next-day delivery, depending on availability. I’d rather arrange everything online than turn up and discover the cake I wanted has sold out.

One More Slice at Cedele Parkway Parade?

I’d happily return for the Carrot Walnut Cake, although the Real Dark Chocolate Cake might tempt me next time. The sandwiches can wait until I’m properly hungry. With so many bakery cafes across Singapore, Cedele’s Parkway Parade outlet makes an easy stop whenever I’m shopping and craving something sweet.

One of my frequently asked questions when buying cakes is whether I can collect them myself, so it’s nice having that option. You can visit Cedele’s official page to find more details before ordering. No need to hold your finger over the map trying to figure out where to go either. Just head to Basement 1 of Parkway Parade, and you’re sorted.
