Gochu Korean Dining: A Cave-Inspired Korean Restaurant Singapore

I’ll be honest, when a friend suggested Korean BBQ at Orchid Country Club in Yishun, I was a little confused. A country club? For Korean food? But Gochu Korean Dining & BBQ, a cave themed restaurant in Singapore, turned out to be one of those happy surprises that makes the trip out feel completely worth it.

I went on a weekday evening, just before 6pm, and I’m so glad I timed it that way. The drive in felt unexpected, almost like heading somewhere for a quiet retreat rather than a BBQ dinner. Then you walk in, and it all makes sense. Places like this are a reminder that sometimes the best Korean food spots are the ones you discover when you least expect them.

Cave Walls, Greenery, and K-BBQ Experience at Gochu

The first thing that hits you is the cave-inspired vibe. Rugged stone walls, warm lighting, and windows framing greenery make it feel less like the usual Korean BBQ restaurant and more like a hidden house tucked away in Seoul, a space designed for a shared experience. I was in awe of the large windows that it almost feels like outdoor seating while still enjoying the comfort of being inside.

The indoor space is relaxed yet trendy, perfect for a group or a single person enjoying a platter of BBQ. It’s clear this is about more than a meal; it’s the kind of place where the world’s flavours feel personal, and even a usual visit can feel special.

Gochu's Diverse Menu of Korean Food

Big Crispy Chilli with Special Spicy Sauce

One of the first dishes that caught my eye was this signature fried chilli, stuffed with minced pork, cheese, and vegetables. The inside stays juicy, making each bite a little playful surprise. It’s more of a fun, shareable novelty than a must-order, and the heat is gentle enough to let the flavours shine without overwhelming.

Galbitang Bansang (Beef Soup)

One of my friends had been craving black sesame samgyetang from Amoy Street, but the Galbitang Bansang at Gochu hit the spot immensely that it took over as one of the table’s favorites. The clear beef soup was served in a generous bowl, with the ribs were tender enough to fall off the bones. Each sip of the broth felt soothing and satisfying, the kind of warmth you want on a relaxed evening.

Pork Rib Kimchi Jjim Bansang (Stew)

The hearty Pork Rib Kimchi Jjim Bansang was rich, tangy, and deeply satisfying on its own, warming every spoonful. I loved pairing it with the Chili Pickle Noodles, a fiery, tangy dish with crunchy chili bites that complemented the stew perfectly. The table was not limited in choices, and the combination showed how Gochu balances bold flavours across dishes while letting every diner enjoy their favourites.

Spicy & Sweet & Savory Grilled Pork Ribs

The Spicy & Sweet & Savory Grilled Pork Ribs were the clear star of my dinner. After looking for a good and delicious barbecue following the Yong Baek style of grilled pork in Telok Ayer, this one hit the spot with juicy, tender meat and smoky oakwood char. It’s the kind of dish that makes you want to linger, whether you’re enjoying a casual dinner, a party with friends, or imagining how it would hit even at lunch!

Shareable Dishes (That We Ordered and Loved)

  • Zucchini Pancake with Dried Prawn: crispy zucchini pancake topped with savory seafood dried prawns

  • Korean Classic Sides: a selection of tofu, prawns, clams, quail eggs, and other sides that let you taste the classics of Korean dining.

Fried Chicken and Drinks to Complete Your Korean Restaurant Experience in Singapore

Gochu’s boneless fried chicken is a playful starter that caters to a range of taste preferences, offering juicy, bite-sized pieces with a golden, crispy coating. It’s a lighter option that complements the richer barbecue mains letting diners enjoy a fun, shareable dish before diving into the full spread.

The drinks menu features Korean-inspired cocktails like the Ginseng Highball and Bokbunja Highball, crafted to enhance the meal or serve as a thoughtful post-dinner treat. Together with the fried chicken, these pairings give diners a chance to explore preferences across flavours while easing into the heart of Gochu’s smoky, satisfying Korean dining experience.

Where Korea Comes Alive in Yishun

The staff were friendly and attentive, guiding each step of the BBQ so I never felt lost at the table. From the grilled meats to the soups, side dishes, and toppings, every element is served thoughtfully, making the meal feel like a mini buffet of Korea in Yishun.

Whether you’re a single person or with friends, the seating works for groups and couples alike. It’s the kind of place where you can eat slowly, savor high quality flavors, and expect the full Korean experience, from sweet and savory ribs to comforting soups, all in a space that feels special yet welcoming.
